Kimball 152 Baby Grand

About the Kimball 152 Baby Grand

Kimball built pianos at an enormous scale for much of the 20th century, at one point among the largest piano producers globally, and while the brand's manufacturing scale meant it wasn't positioned at the premium end occupied by makers like Steinway or Mason & Hamlin, it made genuine acoustic grand piano ownership accessible to a much broader range of American households. The 152 baby grand size represents that accessible-grand positioning specifically.

Used Kimball pianos remain widely available today precisely because of that historical production volume, and buyers considering one should evaluate individual instrument condition carefully given the brand's age and range of manufacturing eras, but a well-maintained example offers genuine acoustic grand piano playing characteristics at a typically lower price point than boutique or premium-brand alternatives.

Sound character of the Kimball 152 Baby Grand

As a Kimball baby grand (around 5'0"), this instrument has the shorter bass strings and smaller soundboard typical of consumer-grade baby grands, giving a brighter, more direct tone with limited low-end depth and sustain compared to a full-size professional grand.
