About the Petrof Concert Grand 284 Mistral

At 284 centimeters, the Mistral is Petrof's largest instrument, a length specifically chosen to generate the volume, sustain and dynamic range a full concert hall demands - longer strings and a larger soundboard allow for richer bass resonance and more headroom for dramatic dynamic contrast than a smaller grand can provide. This positions the Mistral for professional concert use rather than home or teaching studio settings.

Petrof has manufactured pianos in the Czech Republic since 1864, and the Mistral represents the culmination of that long manufacturing tradition - the company's statement instrument built to compete with the concert grands from Steinway, Yamaha and other internationally recognized makers on the world's largest stages.

Sound character of the Petrof Concert Grand 284 Mistral

At 284cm, this is Petrof's full concert grand, and its long bass strings and large soundboard give it a deep, resonant low end with long sustain - the scale that a true concert hall needs for the bass to carry without being felt-thin. Petrof's Czech voicing tradition favors a warm, singing tone across the registers rather than the more percussive brightness of some American or Japanese makers.
