About the Reverie Harp

Unlike a diatonic or chromatic harp where a wrong note is genuinely possible, the Reverie Harp's pentatonic tuning removes dissonant note combinations entirely from the instrument, so a caregiver, hospice volunteer, or patient with no musical background can play it and produce something that sounds calm and pleasant without any technique or training. This design choice is the instrument's entire purpose - it exists specifically for therapeutic and bedside music-making rather than performance repertoire.

Handmade from wood, the Reverie Harp has become a recognized tool specifically within hospice and palliative care music therapy programs, where the goal is providing a soothing musical presence at a patient's bedside rather than musical training or public performance - a genuinely different design brief from every other harp in this category, built around accessibility for non-musicians rather than expressive range for trained players.

Sound character of the Reverie Harp

Because the Reverie Harp is pre-tuned to a pentatonic scale, no combination of strings can produce a dissonant interval - every touch resolves into a soft, consonant chord rather than requiring melodic skill, which is the entire point of its therapeutic design. Its simple wood construction and modest string count keep the tone gentle and intimate rather than powerful or far-projecting.
