Part of Fender's American Vintage II series, recreating the 1960 Precision Bass at the point where alder bodies, rosewood fingerboards and custom-color finishes became standard options.
About the Fender American Vintage II '60 Precision Bass
By 1960, Fender had largely moved the Precision Bass from ash to alder bodies and had introduced the rosewood fingerboard (added in 1959) alongside the slab-board construction and clay-look dot inlays typical of that transition period, before rosewood boards became thinner 'veneer' style later in the decade. The American Vintage II '60 Precision Bass targets this specific window rather than the more commonly reissued late-50s maple-board or later-60s specifications.
As with other American Vintage II instruments, Fender aims for tighter period accuracy than the earlier American Vintage and Vintera lines, covering details like the nitrocellulose finish, vintage-style split single-coil P pickup, and period-correct hardware, alongside the option of Fender's early custom-color palette that the 1960 body style helped popularize.

Sound character of the Fender American Vintage II '60 Precision Bass
Built to 1960-era Fender specs - alder body, rosewood slab fingerboard and a single split-coil P pickup - this reissue delivers the thick, warm, punchy fundamental that defines the classic P-Bass sound, with the nitrocellulose finish contributing to the vintage-correct feel rather than the tone itself.
