About the Stentor 1560 Conservatoire II

The Conservatoire II shares its core construction with the Conservatoire I (1550) - carved spruce front, carved flamed maple back and ribs, Stentor's own Shellax varnish finish, ebony fittings and inlaid purfling - but upgrades the tailpiece to a genuine Wittner unit with integral adjusters, a recognized German hardware brand, rather than Stentor's own composite tailpiece. That's a small but meaningful hardware upgrade for players who've identified specific tuning-stability needs as they progress.

A brazilwood bow (rather than the more basic wood bow on the entry Student lines) and an upgraded deluxe oblong case round out the outfit, positioned by teachers as a natural next step above the Conservatoire I for students continuing to advance rather than a completely different tier of instrument.

Sound character of the Stentor 1560 Conservatoire II

The Conservatoire II sits above the standard Conservatoire in Stentor's range, with finer wood selection and setup refinement that give it a fuller, more resonant tone and better overtone development than the regular 1550, aimed at more advanced students who need more tonal headroom.
