Arturia AstroLab 61

About the Arturia AstroLab 61

Arturia built its reputation on software emulations of classic synthesizers, and the AstroLab was engineered specifically to solve the reliability and workflow problems of running that software live - a self-contained hardware instrument loaded with sounds from the V Collection and Analog Lab rather than requiring a computer on stage. Its 61-key semi-weighted action balances synth-style playability with enough weight for expressive performance across electric piano, organ and synth patches alike.

A dedicated display and hands-on control layout let a performer navigate and tweak sounds in real time without menu-diving, a deliberate design response to the frustration many keyboardists feel when a software-based rig demands too much attention during a live set. The AstroLab represents Arturia's answer to the question of how to make decades of software synth development actually reliable and immediate for stage use.

Sound character of the Arturia AstroLab 61

Because the AstroLab runs software emulations from Arturia's V Collection rather than one fixed sound source, its actual timbre depends entirely on the loaded patch - vintage synth, electric piano, or organ emulations each carry that source instrument's character. The 61-key semi-weighted action is a compromise: enough resistance for expressive synth and organ playing without the full heft of a dedicated piano action.
