Casio GP-310 Celviano Grand Hybrid

About the Casio GP-310 Celviano Grand Hybrid

The Grand Hybrid line's defining feature is genuinely mechanical: it uses real acoustic grand piano hammers and a wooden keyboard action rather than simulating that feel electronically, giving a fundamentally different touch experience from any purely digital hammer-action keyboard. Because there are no strings or soundboard to produce actual sound, sensors detect the hammer's movement and trigger a sampled sound - the mechanical authenticity of an acoustic grand's touch combined with a digital instrument's silent-practice and recording flexibility.

Casio's partnership with C. Bechstein specifically informed the piano sound sampling and touch tuning, lending the GP-310 a tonal pedigree tied to a respected acoustic piano maker rather than being a purely in-house Casio design - a genuine collaboration aimed at closing the gap between digital convenience and acoustic grand piano authenticity as completely as current technology allows.

Sound character of the Casio GP-310 Celviano Grand Hybrid

Unlike a typical digital piano's velocity-switched samples, this action's real wooden grand-piano hammers and keys let sensors track continuous hammer movement, closely mirroring how an acoustic grand's sound actually responds to touch - producing smoother, more natural dynamic gradation and a fuller sense of string-like resonance than a simulated action.
