D Z Strad Double Bass Model 400 (1/4-3/4)

About the D Z Strad Double Bass Model 400 (1/4-3/4)

Unlike the earlier Models 100-300 offered only in 1/2 size, the Model 400 spans a wider range from 1/4 up to 3/4, making the same construction tier accessible to both younger, smaller students and larger-framed players approaching full adult size. This broader size availability reflects a genuinely different market position than the smaller-only models - a bass program can standardize on the Model 400 tier across a wider span of student sizes.

3/4 size in particular is the most common size for adult double bass players, meaning the top of this range serves not just younger students working up in size but also many adult players who find a 3/4 bass more comfortable to manage than a full 4/4 instrument.

Sound character of the D Z Strad Double Bass Model 400 (1/4-3/4)

The Model 400 shares its construction tier with the 200/300 range but spans sizes from 1/4 to 3/4 - a shorter 1/4 scale naturally yields a brighter, less deep tone due to shorter string length and smaller body volume, while the 3/4 option approaches the fuller, warmer voice of a standard-size instrument.
