A dual-humbucker version of the StingRay Special, Music Man's updated take on its own classic StingRay with revised body contouring and a modernized preamp.
About the Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay Special 4 HH
The StingRay Special line reworks the original StingRay's silhouette with revised body contours, a redesigned pickguard shape, and a sculpted neck heel intended to improve upper-fret access, while keeping the roasted figured-maple neck option and the bolt-on construction the StingRay has used since its 1976 introduction. The HH configuration swaps the classic single or single-plus-humbucker StingRay pickup layout for two humbuckers, giving a thicker, more midrange-forward voice than the original's single-humbucker design.
Electronics carry Music Man's active preamp with 3-band EQ and a sweepable mid-frequency control, extending the tonal range well beyond the original StingRay's simpler 2-band circuit. Positioned as a modernized alternative rather than a replacement for the standard StingRay, the Special series appeals to players who want the StingRay's punch and build quality with updated ergonomics and more onboard tone-shaping options.

Sound character of the Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay Special 4 HH
Two humbuckers with a sweepable-mid active 3-band EQ give the StingRay Special 4 HH a wider tonal range than the original single-humbucker StingRay: players can dial in the classic punchy bridge-pickup growl or blend in the neck humbucker and boosted mids for a fuller, rounder voice.
