The five-string version of Fender's current core US-made Precision Bass, adding a low B string and a wider split-coil pickup while keeping the American Professional II's updated neck and electronics.
About the Fender American Professional II Precision Bass V
The American Professional II Precision Bass V extends Fender's flagship Corona-built P-Bass to five strings, which requires more than just a wider neck: the split single-coil pickup is redesigned with a wider pole-piece spacing to keep string-to-string output balanced across the extra low B. It carries the same V-Mod II pickup voicing and "Deep C" neck profile that define the rest of the American Professional II range, along with narrow-tall frets intended to improve intonation accuracy and a treble-bleed circuit that keeps top-end presence when the volume is rolled back.
As the five-string counterpart to Fender's mainstream US-made P-Bass, it targets players who want the four-string Precision's fundamental-heavy, midrange-forward tone extended into low-B territory without switching to a boutique or extended-range specialist brand. It sits above the Mexican-made Player II Precision Bass in Fender's hierarchy and below the American Ultra II line, which adds active electronics that the American Professional II keeps deliberately passive.

Sound character of the Fender American Professional II Precision Bass V
Extending the classic split single-coil P pickup to five strings requires wider pole-piece spacing to keep output even across the added low B, and combined with the deep C-profile maple neck and alder body, it preserves the thick, punchy P-Bass fundamental down into the extended low range.
