About the Kawai CN301

The CN301's Responsive Hammer III action incorporates wooden key elements alongside its counterweighted hammers, a construction choice Kawai carries down from its acoustic piano expertise specifically to replicate the subtle flex and grip a pianist feels from a real wooden key rather than a fully synthetic one. Its sound is sampled directly from Kawai's own SK-EX concert grand, giving the CN301 a tonal identity tied to a specific, well-regarded acoustic instrument rather than a generic piano sample.

As a mid-tier model within Kawai's CN console range, the CN301 targets serious home players who want acoustic-piano-grade touch and tone without committing to Kawai's higher-end cabinet models - a genuine step toward premium feel while remaining within a home-appropriate price and format.

Sound character of the Kawai CN301

Samples Kawai's own SK-EX concert grand directly rather than using the KDP120's Harmonic Imaging synthesis, giving a richer, more detailed acoustic-grand character. Its Responsive Hammer III action uses real wooden key elements (like an acoustic piano's wooden keysticks) for a heavier, more authentic touch than the KDP120's plastic Compact action.
