About the Kentucky KM-606

The KM-606 moves up from Kentucky's flat-back or press-formed A-style models to a genuinely carved F-style: solid, individually carved spruce top over solid carved maple back and sides, joined to a one-piece maple neck rather than a multi-piece laminate. The Santos rosewood fingerboard is radiused, and Kentucky specifically markets "contemporary wide" frets and a wider 1.12-inch nut - aimed at guitarists or players with larger hands who find the traditionally narrow mandolin neck cramped.

The fingerboard carries 22 nickel-silver frets, with deluxe nickel-plated tuners completing the hardware. Finish is a hand-rubbed satin "aged brown" - a worn-in look applied at the factory rather than genuine age - giving it a vintage appearance without the cost of true relic finishing. It ships with a padded ProTour gig bag rather than a hard case.

Sound character of the Kentucky KM-606

Moving to genuinely carved solid spruce and maple (rather than Kentucky's flat-back or press-formed A-style models) gives real archtop-style resonance and projection - a brighter, more responsive voice with more volume headroom than the KM-140, closer to a true bluegrass F-style tone.

The history of the Kentucky KM-606

The KM-606 represents Kentucky's mid-tier F-style offering, aimed at bluegrass and folk players who want carved-top construction and a more generous neck without stepping up to the brand's higher-numbered, more ornately appointed models.
