Used drum kit listings vary enormously in what they actually include, which makes it worth checking carefully rather than assuming "drum kit" means everything needed to play.
- Shell pack: just the drum shells (typically kick, toms and sometimes snare) with no hardware, cymbals, or stands - intended for drummers who already own hardware and cymbals, or are building a kit piece by piece.
- Standard/complete kit: shells plus basic hardware (stands, kick pedal, throne) but usually still without cymbals, since cymbals are commonly bought and swapped separately from the drums themselves.
- "Full kit" listings can mean anything from the above to genuinely including cymbals and a throne - the term isn't standardized, so it's worth asking the seller for an itemized list of exactly what's included rather than assuming based on the listing title.
This matters directly for comparing prices between listings: a shell-pack-only price and a genuinely complete kit price can look similar at a glance but represent very different total costs once the missing pieces (hardware, cymbals, throne) are priced in separately.
