About the Bach 42BO Stradivarius (Open Wrap)

The 42BO shares its core bell and slide with the standard 42B, but its F-attachment tubing is routed in an open-wrap configuration - a looser, less convoluted path for the air than the traditional wrap uses, specifically engineered to reduce resistance and give a more open feel when the rotor is engaged. That difference matters most to players doing extensive low-register or F-attachment work, where backpressure from a tighter wrap becomes noticeable over a long performance.

As part of the Stradivarius line, the 42BO carries Bach's reference-standard orchestral trombone sound - a design so influential that most modern professional tenor trombones, regardless of maker, are implicitly compared against the 42-series Bach. Its standard rotor valve (rather than a Thayer or similar axial-flow valve) is the traditional configuration many orchestral players still prefer for its familiar feel and sound.

Sound character of the Bach 42BO Stradivarius (Open Wrap)

The 42BO's larger 8.5-inch yellow brass bell and open-wrap F attachment give it a broader, warmer orchestral tone than a straight student horn, with the open-wrap tubing routing air on a looser path that reduces backpressure and keeps the low register and F-attachment work feeling free rather than resistant. As the reference-standard Stradivarius orchestral trombone, it's built for a full, resonant sound that projects in ensemble settings.
