One of the two defining American professional orchestral tenor trombones, built with a traditional-wrap F attachment that many players prefer for its familiar resistance and tonal centering.
About the C.G. Conn 88H Symphony (Traditional Wrap)
The 88H's traditional-wrap F attachment routes the rotor tubing through a more convoluted path than an open-wrap design - a configuration that adds slightly more resistance but that generations of orchestral players have grown up on and specifically prefer for the way it centers the tone and feel of low-register and F-attachment passages. Rather than being an older, outdated design, the traditional wrap remains a deliberate choice many professionals continue to select over the more modern open-wrap alternative.
Alongside Bach's Stradivarius 42 series, the 88H has stood as one of the two reference designs orchestral trombonists compare every other professional tenor against - a genuinely different tonal character from the Bach standard, but built to the same exacting professional tolerances.

Sound character of the C.G. Conn 88H Symphony (Traditional Wrap)
The 88H shares its yellow brass bell and dark, broad Conn tonal signature with the 88HO, but its F attachment uses the traditional wrap - a more convoluted tubing path that adds slightly more backpressure and resistance than the open-wrap 88HO, which many players feel gives a more focused, compact core to the low register.
