About the Hohner Corona II (F/Bb/Eb)

The Corona II shares the same core layout as Hohner's entry Panther - 31 treble buttons across three rows, 12 bass/chord buttons, 2/3 MM reed configuration - but moves up in build quality and materials, including a wooden fingerboard and Hohner's noise-damping button technology to reduce the mechanical clack heard on cheaper diatonic accordions. At around 9 lbs, it stays light despite the upgraded construction.

F/Bb/Eb tuning positions it specifically for Tex-Mex and norteno musicians, one of the genre's most in-demand key combinations. Hohner explicitly markets the Corona II as favored by professional players in these styles seeking a powerful, distinctive sound beyond what entry-level diatonics deliver, without yet reaching the top-tier Corona III's additional reed voice and larger button count.

Sound character of the Hohner Corona II (F/Bb/Eb)

Its 2/3 MM reed configuration is tuned with a slight detuning between the two middle reeds, giving the classic light musette shimmer prized in norteno and Tex-Mex playing - more tonal movement than the single-tuned Panther below it, without the thicker three-voice buzz of the flagship Corona III. A wooden fingerboard and noise-damped buttons also make the mechanical action quieter than entry models.
