Ibanez UB805

About the Ibanez UB805

The UB805 shares its skeletal mahogany body and Upswing folding mechanism entirely with the 4-string UB804, meaning a bassist gets the same transport-friendly collapsible design with an added low string for extended low-end range - useful for players covering repertoire that dips below a standard 4-string bass's range without needing alternate tunings. This makes the 5-string version a direct upgrade path rather than a fundamentally different instrument.

For bassists who need both the low B extension found on 5-string electric basses and the specific upright playing feel and tone this format provides, the UB805 combines both requirements in an instrument that still solves the transport problem that makes acoustic and most electric upright basses genuinely inconvenient for regular gigging.

Sound character of the Ibanez UB805

Sharing the UB804's skeletal foldable body and piezo-only signal path, the UB805 has the same direct, dry electric-upright character - the added low B string only extends the available range downward, it doesn't change the fundamental tone-shaping (or lack of natural resonance) of the design.
