Kawai GX3

About the Kawai GX3

Kawai's Millennium III action replaces the wood traditionally used in piano action parts with an ABS-Carbon composite material, engineered specifically to resist the humidity-driven expansion and contraction that can throw a wooden action out of precise adjustment over time. This gives the GX3 more consistent touch response across seasonal humidity changes than a comparable wood-action piano might maintain without frequent regulation.

At 188 centimeters, the GX3 sits in the professional studio and small concert venue size range, and Kawai's broader manufacturing philosophy - applying materials science innovation to traditionally wood-based components - reflects the same forward-looking engineering approach the brand carries from its acoustic pianos into its digital instrument lines.

Sound character of the Kawai GX3

At 188cm (a semi-concert size), the GX3 sits between Kawai's smaller studio grands and full concert instruments, giving it more bass resonance and sustain than a baby grand while staying warmer and rounder than the brighter voicing typical of comparable Yamaha models. Kawai's Millennium III action and denser hammer felt contribute to a smooth, controlled dynamic response rather than an aggressive attack.
