NS Design WAV4

About the NS Design WAV4

Ned Steinberger built his reputation on radically rethinking traditional instrument ergonomics, and NS Design's electric upright basses carry that design philosophy into a genuinely minimal, sculpted body shape rather than simply removing wood from a traditional upright silhouette - the WAV series specifically refines that ergonomic approach with a body designed for comfortable standing or seated playing over long sessions. Its piezo pickup system and onboard preamp are tuned specifically for a natural, acoustic-adjacent tone rather than an obviously electric character.

NS Design has built a strong reputation among professional touring and session bassists specifically for the combination of genuine ergonomic comfort and studio-quality amplified tone, positioning the WAV4 as a premium option for players who've decided an electric upright is their primary instrument rather than a compromise substitute for acoustic bass.

Sound character of the NS Design WAV4

NS Design's refined piezo pickup and onboard preamp give the WAV4 a notably warmer, more natural amplified tone than typical budget electric uprights, which tend to sound thin or quacky - the onboard EQ lets a player shape the piezo signal toward a rounder, more upright-like voice before it even hits an external amp.
