About the pBone (Blue)

The pBone's ABS plastic construction is tuned during design to produce real trombone tone and intonation, not a simplified toy approximation - it plays like a trombone because it's engineered as one, just built from a material that survives drops and knocks a beginner inevitably causes. Its plastic slide moves smoothly enough for genuine daily practice, and its light weight makes proper playing position far more manageable for a small child than a brass horn's weight allows.

This blue finish is one of several color options pBone offers on the identical instrument, a deliberate choice to make picking a first trombone feel like a fun decision for a young player rather than a purely functional one - color has no acoustic effect, but it lowers the psychological barrier to starting an instrument that can otherwise feel intimidatingly large and heavy.

Sound character of the pBone (Blue)

Identical in construction to pBone's other colors - molded ABS plastic rather than brass - this blue-finished model produces the same smoother, slightly duller trombone tone that comes from plastic damping the brighter upper harmonics a brass bell would produce; the color is purely cosmetic and has no acoustic effect.
