Availability: 2/10 (Very rare)
A hand-carved solid spruce and figured maple F-style with a rounded V-shaped neck and Padauk fingerboard, positioned by The Loar as its Contemporary series rather than the vintage-reverent finish of its 300-series models.
About the The Loar LM-590
The LM-590 uses solid, hand-carved spruce over solid figured maple back and sides, the same core recipe as The Loar's entry LM-310F, but at a longer 13.9-inch scale and with a rounded V-shaped maple neck profile - a rounder, fuller feel than the thin V used on the LM-310F, aimed at players who find a very thin neck fatiguing over long sessions. The fingerboard is Padauk with a flat extension beyond the 20th of its 20 frets rather than a floating extension.
Hardware includes nickel tuners with ivory-colored buttons, a bone nut at 1.12 inches, and an adjustable ebony bridge. The "Contemporary" designation in The Loar's naming distinguishes it from the brand's vintage-reissue-styled models: satin tobacco sunburst finish and mother-of-pearl dot inlays rather than the antiqüd varnish and abalone flowerpot ornamentation of higher-tier vintage-look Loar mandolins.

Sound character of the The Loar LM-590
Same solid spruce-over-maple recipe and Padauk fingerboard as The Loar's entry LM-310F, so a similarly bright, resonant F-style voice with attack slightly softened compared to an ebony board. The rounded V neck and figured-maple cosmetics change feel and looks, not the underlying tone.
