About the Washburn B16K

The B16K pairs a mahogany resonator and rim with a maple neck and ebony fingerboard - ebony being a step up from the rosewood typical at this price range - carrying deluxe pearloid inlays across 22 frets. A bell brass tone ring, one-piece flange, and 11-inch diecast tension hoop give it genuine resonator-bluegrass tone-shaping hardware rather than the simplified hoop rings on budget instruments.

All five tuners are geared planetary units, and separate coordinator rods (rather than a single rod) provide a more rigid neck-to-pot connection. At a 26.35-inch scale with a 1.22-inch nut, it's fitted with a genuine Remo head and ebony-topped maple bridge, strung with D'Addario strings as stock equipment and finished in tobacco sunburst gloss - cosmetics closer to Washburn's guitar range than a typical folk-instrument finish.

Sound character of the Washburn B16K

The B16K combines a bell-brass tone ring - a bright, cutting bluegrass-style ring - with a mahogany resonator and rim, which adds midrange warmth to balance the brass ring's edge. The result sits between a fully bright maple-bodied bluegrass banjo and a warmer open-back instrument.
