About the Yamaha YAS-82Z Custom Z

The Custom Z's special brass alloy body was chosen specifically to reduce weight without sacrificing the tonal flexibility a professional player needs across genres, while its 2-piece hydro-formed bell balances durability with a well-formed tone. Annealing the body, bell and bow during production reduces air resistance and improves response - the same heat-treatment principle Yamaha applies across its professional saxophone line, taken further here.

A choice of necks - the wide-taper V1 for a free-blowing, maximally flexible feel, or the nickel-silver Custom-style G1 for a more condensed, rigid, quick-response character - lets a player match the horn to their own playing style rather than accepting one fixed voicing. Blue steel springs for faster, more sensitive key response and adjustable screw-cap key guards for professional-level technical setup complete an instrument aimed at conservatory-level and professional players across jazz, solo and ensemble settings.

Sound character of the Yamaha YAS-82Z Custom Z

Yamaha's special brass alloy on the Custom Z is chosen specifically for lighter weight and greater tonal flexibility than the standard 62-series brass, letting a player pull a darker, more covered sound or a brighter, more open one depending on whether the V1 or G1 neck is fitted.

Full-bodied Resonant Midrange-forward
