The reference-standard professional Bb trumpet against which most other trumpets are implicitly compared, built with a medium-large bore and the widely favored No. 37 bell.
About the Bach 180S37 Stradivarius
The 180S37's medium-large bore and No. 37 bell combination has become the default professional trumpet specification worldwide - a balance of projection, flexibility and tonal warmth that suits orchestral, chamber, and studio work equally well without demanding a player specialize in one genre. This exact bore-and-bell pairing is so widely used that many other manufacturers' 'standard' professional trumpets are effectively designed to compete directly against it.
Bach's Stradivarius trumpet line carries the same design lineage and reputation as the company's famous Stradivarius trombones, and the 180S37 specifically has held its position as the most commonly owned professional trumpet in American orchestras and conservatories for generations - a genuinely rare case of one model defining an entire instrument category's expected sound and specification.

Sound character of the Bach 180S37 Stradivarius
The medium-large .459" bore and No. 37 yellow brass bell combine for a full, warm core tone with enough resistance to reward strong air support with a rich, projecting sound rather than a thin one. This exact bore/bell pairing was tuned specifically to blend well in ensemble settings while still carrying as a solo voice, which is why it became the industry reference point.
