About the Jupiter JTR700

The JTR700 pairs a .460-inch bore with a 4.8-inch yellow brass bell, fed by a rose brass leadpipe on a yellow brass body. Three stainless steel pistons run in nickel-silver outer slides with yellow brass inner slides, topped with mother-of-pearl valve buttons, and both the 1st and 3rd valve slides are adjustable so a player can fine-tune the fit and intonation as they grow into the instrument. It's available in lacquered brass or silver plate, and ships with a 7C mouthpiece and a molded ABS case. The whole package sits at the accessible end of Jupiter's lineup, a simpler build than the brand's intermediate 1100-series horns but constructed to the same basic playability goals.

Sound character of the Jupiter JTR700

The .460-inch bore and 4.8-inch bell combination is tuned for a focused sound with comfortable breath resistance for beginners, producing a full tone with good intonation rather than the thin, strained sound some entry-level trumpets show at the extremes of their range.

Warm Full-bodied Smooth

What owners of the Jupiter JTR700 say

Feedback skews strongly positive and unusually consistent for a budget-friendly student horn: a 4.7-out-of-5 average with the large majority of ratings at five stars, and reviewers repeatedly pointing to the valve action and overall robustness as reasons it holds up well to years of school use. It shows up often on best-beginner-trumpet lists, and the adjustable first-valve slide gets specific credit for giving it a bit more room to grow with a student rather than being outgrown within the first year.

Playability & handling of the Jupiter JTR700

Jupiter positions the JTR700 as free-blowing and well-balanced, aimed at giving younger players a full sound and easy response rather than fighting an unforgiving beginner horn. Independent reviews back that up, describing the valves as fast, robust and easy to play, and calling the overall build "very robust" - a useful trait for a first instrument that won't always get the gentlest handling. The adjustable 1st-valve slide hook is specifically called out as helpful for more advancing players working on intonation, which extends the horn's useful life a bit further than a purely fixed-slide beginner trumpet. On Amazon, the model holds a 4.7-out-of-5 average with 79% five-star ratings, an unusually consistent result for an instrument at this price point.

Recommended accessories & strings for the Jupiter JTR700

A 7C mouthpiece and a molded ABS case come included, covering everything needed for lessons to start right away - the 7C is also a widely used size many players stay with for years rather than needing an immediate upgrade. Standard brass-instrument care applies: valve oil for the stainless steel pistons, slide grease for the tuning slides, and periodic cleaning with a flexible snake.

The history of the Jupiter JTR700

Jupiter's JTR700 serves as a standard student trumpet, valued by school band programs for reliable build quality at a competitive price.

About Jupiter as a manufacturer

The JTR700 carries the same Jupiter/KHS lineage as the brand's intermediate instruments: founded in 1980 by Taiwan's KHS to market a full line of wind and percussion instruments, with roots going back to a 1930 educational-products company and band-instrument production from 1957 onward. As the entry point into that catalog, the JTR700 reflects KHS's founding mission most directly - the name itself stands for "a company helping schools and culture" - built to get a genuinely playable instrument into a beginner's hands at a price point schools and families can actually afford, rather than treating the student line as an afterthought to the professional range.
