A resonator bluegrass banjo built around Deering's own Twenty-Ten tone ring, with quartersawn maple neck construction and eagle-engraved fingerboard inlays as its signature visual detail.
About the Deering Eagle II
The Eagle II uses Deering's patent-pending Twenty-Ten tone ring on a three-ply violin-grade maple rim, paired with a quartersawn maple neck in a slender D-shaped profile - quartersawn wood resists warping better under string tension than flat-sawn stock. Dark "Eagle Red" stain over a high-gloss finish gives it a distinct look, with the eagle-engraved fingerboard inlays that give the model its name set into a natural ebony fingerboard across 22 pressed-in nickel silver frets.
Hardware includes planetary tuners with a geared 5th-string peg for accurate high-string tuning, a 5/8-inch Deering Smile maple bridge with an ebony top, and nickel-plated hardware throughout. The 13 7/8-inch resonator and 11-inch rim are standard Deering bluegrass proportions, tuned in the standard open-G-family tuning (gDGBD), producing what Deering describes as a strong midrange with good bass and vibrant highs suited to both clawhammer and bluegrass styles.

Sound character of the Deering Eagle II
The Eagle II pairs a 3-ply violin-grade maple rim with Deering's own 'Twenty-Ten' bronze-alloy tone ring and a resonator back, a combination built to maximize volume and sustain by reinforcing the head's vibration and throwing sound forward. It delivers the loud, cutting, full-bodied voice bluegrass banjo players rely on to be heard over a full band.
