The resonator-equipped version of Deering's popular Goodtime entry banjo, adding a maple resonator for a louder, more directional bluegrass-style projection than the open-back original.
About the Deering Goodtime Two
The Goodtime Two takes the standard Goodtime's core build - an 11-inch, 3-ply violin-grade maple rim, rock maple neck in a comfortable D-shape, Lexan polycarbonate nut, and 22 nickel-silver frets - and adds a 3-ply maple resonator with a 13 7/8-inch diameter. A resonator reflects sound forward and out toward an audience rather than letting it dissipate behind the player, the key acoustic difference between open-back old-time banjos and directional bluegrass instruments.
Hardware is Deering's own two-piece Goodtime series flange and a beveled steel tension hoop with 16 flat J-hooks, along with a 5/8-inch Goodtime smile bridge, finished in a US bronze powder coat. At the same 26 1/4-inch scale as the open-back Goodtime, it weighs around 6 lbs - heavier than the resonator-less original but still light for a resonator banjo, keeping the line's reputation for an accessible, easy-playing beginner instrument.

Sound character of the Deering Goodtime Two
The Goodtime Two adds a resonator to Deering's entry-level Goodtime rim, but deliberately omits a metal tone ring - the plain maple rim vibrates more freely and with less metallic overtone content than a Mastertone-style ring would produce. That keeps it warmer and softer than a true bluegrass banjo, while the resonator still adds noticeably more projection and brightness than the fully open-back Goodtime.

The history of the Deering Goodtime Two
The original Goodtime became one of the best-selling entry-level American-made banjos specifically because Deering kept its Korean and Chinese-import competitors' price point while building it domestically; the Goodtime Two extends that value proposition to players who specifically want resonator tone from their first banjo.
