Availability: 2/10 (Very rare)
A compact 26-string lap harp from Rees Harps pre-tuned to a key well-suited to folk and therapy harp repertoire, offering the same handmade USA build as its Fullsicle and Sharpsicle siblings in a different default tuning.
About the Rees Flatsicle
Rather than defaulting to C major like the Sharpsicle, the Flatsicle ships tuned to a key more immediately useful for certain folk tunes and therapeutic music applications straight out of the box, reducing the retuning a player needs to do before playing repertoire suited to that key signature. Like its siblings, it uses sharping levers on select strings rather than full chromatic coverage, keeping the instrument approachable for beginners.
The Sicle family's shared design - compact size, lap-resting play position, handmade USA construction - lets Rees offer essentially the same physical instrument across Fullsicle, Sharpsicle and Flatsicle, differentiated mainly by default tuning and lever placement to suit different repertoire and skill-level starting points.

Sound character of the Rees Flatsicle
Sharing the identical compact 26-string body as the Fullsicle and Sharpsicle, the Flatsicle produces the same inherently bright, light lap-harp timbre - what changes between the three is only the default tuning and lever placement, not the underlying acoustic character. Its particular key setting suits the drone-like, modal melodies common in folk and therapy repertoire.
