The most compact button-type digital V-Accordion, using onboard sensors and modeling rather than real reeds to reproduce accordion, orchestral and organ sounds through built-in speakers.
About the Roland FR-1XB
The FR-1XB is a digital accordion: there are no vibrating metal reeds inside, only sensors reading key/button presses and bellows movement, feeding Roland's sound modeling engine. That lets it reproduce over a dozen different accordion voicings instantly via button presses rather than mechanical register switches, plus orchestral instrument sounds and tonewheel organ emulations with rotary-speaker-style effects - sounds a physical reed accordion simply cannot produce.
As the button-type ('B') model in the FR-1X series, it uses a diatonic-style button layout on the treble side rather than piano keys, paired with onboard drum/percussion sounds playable via the bass and chord buttons. A new-generation bellows-pressure sensor and USB port (for storing user programs and playing MP3/WAV files) round out the electronics, with full-range onboard speakers (7W x 2) in a bass-reflex enclosure making it self-contained without external amplification.

Sound character of the Roland FR-1XB
There are no reeds here at all: onboard sensors read bellows pressure and key/button action, and the sound is entirely digitally modeled and played back through the built-in 7W x 2 speakers. That makes the tone consistent and immune to reed-tuning drift, but also cleaner and more controlled than a physical accordion's naturally imperfect, breathing reed sound.

The history of the Roland FR-1XB
Roland's V-Accordion line pioneered digital modeling for accordion players starting in the early 2000s, and the FR-1x series represents the smallest, most portable tier - the FR-1XB specifically serving button-accordion players who don't want a piano-style keyboard.
