Conn-Selmer Prelude CL711

About the Conn-Selmer Prelude CL711

The CL711 uses a hard rubber body rather than the simpler ABS resin found on some competing beginner clarinets, a material choice Conn-Selmer made specifically to warm up the tone and bring it closer to a wood clarinet's character while keeping the instrument affordable and durable for classroom use. Its small, complex bore is designed to give students slight resistance, encouraging the development of a controlled, focused embouchure rather than an overly free, unstable tone.

Drop-forged nickel-silver keys resist the bending that comes from routine student handling, and an adjustable thumb rest, bladed pads, and plastic mouthpiece complete a package built to get a genuine first-time player through their earliest years of playing without requiring a wood instrument's cost or care routine.
