A professional Selmer Paris clarinet built around an Evolution System resin-lined upper joint, aimed at giving American players the brighter, more forward 'ping' in the sound that they often associate with domestic taste rather than the traditionally darker French clarinet character.
About the Selmer Paris B16 Presence Evolution
The Presence Evolution's 18-key design uses a 0.567-inch bore with a 66.5mm barrel, Valentino synthetic pads, and an optional Eb lever, built on selected Grenadilla wood that's delicately worked, naturally treated, lacquered and waterproofed for long-term protection. Its defining engineering feature is the Evolution System resin lining near the bore in the upper joint, added specifically for greater dimensional stability and durability against humidity swings that would otherwise affect intonation over time.
Selmer designed the bore and tone-hole positioning through dedicated research aimed at ease of emission and exceptional homogeneity across registers, while deliberately voicing the instrument with a brighter edge - Selmer's response to American clarinetists who wanted the harmonic richness of a French clarinet without sacrificing the immediate presence in the sound that European designs sometimes prioritize less.

Sound character of the Selmer Paris B16 Presence Evolution
Selmer deliberately voiced the Presence Evolution with a brighter edge than traditional French clarinet tone, aiming for the immediate 'ping' and presence many American players prefer, while its selected Grenadilla body and resin-lined upper joint still retain a rich harmonic character underneath that brightness.
