A chambered-body electric violin from a brand better known for guitars: solid spruce top and maple back/sides with a specially designed piezo bridge, minimizing feedback for stage use.
About the Fender FV-1
The FV-1 uses a chambered body (internal cavities routed out rather than a fully solid block or a fully hollow acoustic body) with a solid spruce top and maple back and sides - a middle ground construction that keeps some resonance while resisting the feedback a fully hollow acoustic-electric violin would suffer at stage volume. The purpose-designed piezo bridge is the core of the electronics, feeding simple passive volume and tone controls.
At a standard 13-inch scale with an ebony fingerboard and ebony tuning pegs, it's built to full-size violin proportions rather than a novelty shape, finished in gloss polyurethane. The complete package includes a hard shell case, horse-tail hair bow, rosin, and an ebony chin rest - a fuller outfit than some electric violins that ship as instrument-only.

Sound character of the Fender FV-1
The FV-1 is a budget solid-body electric violin with a basic piezo pickup and no acoustic chamber, so its sound is defined almost entirely by the pickup's characteristic bright, slightly thin electronic voicing rather than by wood resonance - functional for silent practice and light amplified use rather than tonal nuance.

The history of the Fender FV-1
Fender's FV-1, though the brand is not historically a string-instrument maker, applied electric-guitar-style construction thinking (chambered bodies, piezo bridges) to violin, aimed at guitarists and bandleaders wanting an electric violin sound without switching to a specialist string-instrument brand.
