A compact four-voice analog polyphonic synthesizer that brought genuinely polyphonic analog sound to a mainstream price point, built around two variable-shape VCOs per voice and a switchable multi-pole filter.
About the Korg Minilogue
Each of the Minilogue's four voices carries its own pair of variable-shape analog VCOs feeding into a filter switchable between 2-pole and 4-pole lowpass response, giving a wide range of tonal character from thin and biting to thick and rounded from a genuinely classic analog voice architecture. Compact new analog polysynths were relatively rare when the Minilogue arrived, and it specifically brought that polyphonic analog sound down to a price point that made it accessible well beyond specialist studios.
Its 16-step sequencer with motion recording and OLED oscilloscope display carry the same modern conveniences found on Korg's monophonic Monologue, letting a player see waveforms change in real time and capture knob automation during a performance - practical, visual feedback tools layered onto a fundamentally classic analog synthesis engine.

Sound character of the Korg Minilogue
Two analog VCOs per voice across 4-voice polyphony, run through an analog 2-pole filter, give the Minilogue a warm, rounded, genuinely analog chord and pad tone that most budget monosynths of its era couldn't offer, since true analog polyphony requires that many complete oscillator/filter circuits.
