A professional clarinet from Yamaha's Custom V series, distinguished by a redesigned ergonomic key layout including an extended C#/G# lever and thick silver plating chosen specifically for a darker, more resonant sound.
About the Yamaha YCL-CSVR
Built from Grenadilla with silver-plated nickel-silver keywork over 17 keys and 6 rings on the Böhm system, the CSVR's tone holes are tapered and hand-undercut for the precise intonation and quick response Yamaha targets in its Custom line. Its 65mm barrel and CL4CM mouthpiece round out a spec sheet built for advanced players who need consistency across registers rather than a single standout characteristic.
What sets the CSVR apart within Yamaha's own range is its ergonomic redesign - a 2mm-extended C#/G# lever specifically engineered for a more natural hand position - paired with notably thicker silver plating than typical professional clarinets, a deliberate choice Yamaha made to darken and add resonance to the instrument's overall voice.

Sound character of the Yamaha YCL-CSVR
Yamaha deliberately used thicker-than-usual silver plating on the CSVR's keywork specifically to darken and add resonance to its voice, layered on the naturally warm tone of its solid Grenadilla body. Hand-undercut, tapered tone holes prioritize quick, precise response over sheer projection, giving an even character across registers.
