About the Behringer TD-3

The original TB-303 was a commercial failure at launch in the 1980s, only later becoming legendary when musicians discovered its distinctive resonant filter sweeps could create the acid house genre's defining squelching basslines - a sound tied specifically to that instrument's particular analog filter and sequencer quirks rather than being easily replicated elsewhere. The TD-3 reproduces that same analog circuit design and 16-step sequencer workflow at a fraction of the cost original TB-303 units now command on the vintage market.

Behringer added genuine modern upgrades absent from the original - MIDI and USB connectivity for DAW integration, and a built-in overdrive/distortion circuit for extra grit - while keeping the core analog voice and sequencer behavior that defines the acid bassline sound, making a historically important but now expensive-to-own sound accessible to a much broader range of electronic music producers.

Sound character of the Behringer TD-3

TD-3 is a faithful analog circuit clone of the Roland TB-303, using the same single-oscillator-plus-resonant-filter-with-accent design that produces the squelchy, resonant, growling acid-bass sweeps the 303 is famous for, driven by its distinctive step sequencer with slide and accent.
