A wider-rimmed Goodtime variant using a 12-inch pot instead of the standard 11-inch, producing a noticeably laid-back, mellower tone suited to backing vocalists rather than cutting through as a lead voice.
About the Deering Goodtime Americana
The Americana keeps the Goodtime line's core construction - 3-ply violin-grade maple rim, rock maple neck in the D-shaped profile, sealed geared tuners with a Goodtime geared 5th-string peg - but enlarges the rim to 12 inches paired with a 12-inch Renaissance medium-crown head, up from the standard Goodtime's 11-inch pot. That larger surface area shifts the tone toward the mellower, more "laid-back" character old-time and accompaniment players often prefer over the tighter, more cutting sound of an 11-inch rim.
The neck retains the standard Goodtime's 26 1/4-inch scale, 1 1/4-inch nut, and 22 pressed-in nickel silver frets, finished in a natural blonde maple with hand-rubbed polyurethane and carnauba wax, and Art Deco-inspired hardwood fingerboard inlays give it a distinct look from other Goodtime variants. At 4.5 lbs it remains as lightweight as the standard model despite the larger rim.

Sound character of the Deering Goodtime Americana
The Goodtime Americana uses a larger 12-inch rim (versus the standard 11-inch) with a Renaissance-style head, giving it noticeably more low-end body and resonance than the standard Goodtime while remaining open-back and tone-ring-free. The extra pot size adds fullness without pushing the tone toward the bright, metallic character of a resonator/tone-ring bluegrass banjo.
