A fully handcrafted step-up violin above the entry VL80, built on a classic Stradivari pattern from well-seasoned tonewoods, aimed at advancing students moving beyond a basic instrument.
About the Andreas Eastman VL200
The VL200 moves up from the VL80's Chinese-sourced tonewoods to well-seasoned, select spruce and maple - a carved spruce top and carved maple back and ribs on the same Stradivari body pattern, but with more careful wood selection and aging. A hand-applied translucent amber varnish replaces the VL80's high-gloss finish, generally allowing better top vibration and a warmer visual tone.
Fittings include genuine hand-inlaid purfling, an ebony fingerboard, boxwood pegs, tailpiece and chinrest, plus a Despiau 1 Tree bridge - Despiau's premium bridge-blank tier, above the standard Despiau bridge used on the VL80. Eastman markets the VL200 explicitly as a fully handcrafted step-up instrument for advancing students in private lessons, school orchestras, auditions and chamber ensembles, describing its tone as bright and uplifting with strong overtone presence.

Sound character of the Andreas Eastman VL200
The VL200 sits above Eastman's entry VL80 with better-aged solid tonewoods and more refined hand-finishing, giving it a fuller, warmer, more resonant tone with richer overtone complexity than the entry-level model in the same lineup.
