About the Moog Subsequent 37

The Subsequent 37's two analog oscillators can play two independent notes simultaneously in duophonic mode, a middle ground between fully monophonic and true polyphonic synthesis that lets a player create simple two-note harmonies or bass-and-lead combinations directly from one instrument's voice architecture. Its Moog ladder filter carries forward the same fundamental filter design credited with defining Moog's signature warm, musical low-pass sound since the company's earliest synthesizers.

Compared to the original Sub 37, the Subsequent 37 pushes its internal signal path harder, aiming for a louder, more overdriven and aggressive tone at the same settings - a deliberate voicing choice for players who wanted more grit and presence from the same core architecture rather than a redesigned sound engine.

Sound character of the Moog Subsequent 37

Subsequent 37 pairs two full analog oscillators with Moog's ladder filter and an added Multidrive circuit that overdrives the signal before the filter, giving it a fatter, more aggressively saturated, growling low end than earlier Moog monosynths without that extra drive stage.

The history of the Moog Subsequent 37

Moog's Subsequent 37 updates the Sub 37 with a hotter signal path for more aggressive tone, while retaining the same duophonic architecture and legendary ladder filter.
