A semi-modular analog synthesizer built around subharmonic oscillators that generate pitches mathematically related below a root note, paired with two polyrhythm generators for creating complex, self-evolving rhythmic and melodic patterns.
About the Moog Subharmonicon
Where most synths generate harmonics above a fundamental pitch, the Subharmonicon's dedicated subharmonic oscillators produce tones at mathematical divisions below the root note - a less common approach rooted in historical microtonal and just-intonation theory, giving access to droning, unusual interval relationships not available on a standard synth voice architecture. Two independent oscillators plus four subharmonic generators (two per oscillator) create a genuinely dense harmonic foundation from a single note.
Its two polyrhythm generators drive sequencer patterns at independently set step counts, so a 5-step pattern and a 7-step pattern can run simultaneously against each other, continuously drifting in and out of alignment rather than looping identically - a compositional tool for generative, ever-changing music that a standard fixed-length step sequencer can't replicate on its own.

Sound character of the Moog Subharmonicon
The Subharmonicon generates subharmonic tones - frequencies mathematically divided down from two main analog oscillators - which produces dense, descending, drone-like low frequencies alongside the main pitch, giving it a darker, more growling, resonant character than a standard analog synth built only from harmonics above the fundamental.
