Buffet's genuine step-up wood clarinet, built from the same Grenadilla blackwood as its professional R13 line, giving advancing students a real French bore design once a plastic beginner clarinet stops being enough.
About the Buffet Crampon E11
The E11 uses a solid Grenadilla (African blackwood) body rather than the ABS resin common to beginner instruments, paired with a poly-cylindrical bore and undercut tone holes - construction ideas drawn directly from Buffet's professional clarinets rather than a scaled-down student design. Its 17-key, 6-ring Böhm-system keywork is nickel-plated, and double fishskin pads and an adjustable thumb rest round out a build meant to hold up to daily school and youth-orchestra use.
Because it shares its acoustic philosophy with the R13, an E11 gives an intermediate player a clarinet that responds and centers similarly to what they'll eventually move up to, rather than requiring a jump in playing feel alongside the jump in repertoire difficulty.

Sound character of the Buffet Crampon E11
The solid Grenadilla body and poly-cylindrical bore give the E11 the warm, dense fundamental typical of blackwood clarinets, clearly richer in overtones than a resin beginner instrument. Because the bore and undercut tone holes follow Buffet's professional design rather than a scaled-down student layout, the tone stays centered and even across registers instead of thinning out in the upper range.
