Buffet Crampon Tosca
Price: 430 EUR – 8.494 EUR
Availability: 2/10 (Very rare)
A modern flagship professional clarinet built on a narrowed version of the R13's bottom-joint bore, adding a left-hand Eb key and low-F correction key not found on the standard R13.
About the Buffet Crampon Tosca
The Tosca's body blends 95% Grenadilla wood with a small proportion of polycarbonate fiber and epoxy resin - a composite approach aimed at improving stability against humidity and temperature swings without sacrificing the tonal character players expect from solid blackwood. Its 19 keys and 6 rings extend the R13's standard keywork with two features aimed at advanced repertoire: a left-hand Eb lever for smoother technical passages and a low-F correction key addressing an intonation quirk found on more basic designs.
Built on an R13-derived bore but with the bottom joint narrowed relative to the standard R13, the Tosca aims for a different, often described as more resistant and centered, response than its sibling - silver-plated keys, blue steel springs, and a blend of waterproof synthetic and natural cork pads complete a professional-tier package sold without a mouthpiece, on the assumption serious players already have preferences of their own.

Sound character of the Buffet Crampon Tosca
The Tosca keeps the warm, woody core tone of a mostly solid-Grenadilla body, but its narrowed, R13-derived bottom-joint bore concentrates that tone into a more resistant, centered response than the standard R13 - many players describe it as slightly darker and more focused rather than broadly resonant.
