About the Fender American Standard Precision Bass (2008-2016)
The American Standard Precision Bass replaced the American Series (2000-2007) as Fender's core US-made P Bass, introducing a new higher-mass bridge for improved sustain and tuning stability along with a satin urethane neck finish intended to feel faster and less tacky under the hand than the fuller gloss finishes used before it. The classic single split-coil pickup and alder body construction carried over from the preceding generation.
Produced from 2008 until it was itself succeeded by the American Professional series around 2016-2017, the American Standard represents the mid-2010s baseline for Fender's domestically built Precision Bass, sitting between the American Series before it and the American Professional/American Professional II models that followed.

Sound character of the Fender American Standard Precision Bass (2008-2016)
The American Standard-era P-Bass (2008-2016) upgraded to an Alnico V split-coil pickup, which runs slightly hotter and clearer than the Alnico II/III pickups on earlier Standard-series basses while keeping the same humbucking split-coil design. On its alder body this gives the familiar warm P-Bass thump with a bit more definition and output than the Mexican-made Standard version.
