About the Fender American Ultra II Jazz Bass V

The American Ultra II Jazz Bass V keeps the Jazz Bass's dual single-coil-in-a-humbucker-shaped-cover layout (Ultra Noiseless voicing, hum-cancelling without the classic single-coil hum) and extends it to a five-string format with a wider, flatter compound-radius fingerboard to keep the added B string comfortable to play cleanly. The Ultra II neck carries Fender's sculpted heel and a slightly modified 'Modern D' profile versus the original Ultra series, aimed at easier upper-fret access and a faster overall feel.

As the five-string entry in Fender's domestic flagship line, it sits above the American Professional II and Player II Jazz Basses, aimed at players who want a US-built five-string with contemporary electronics (active/passive switching) rather than a vintage-correct reissue feel.

Sound character of the Fender American Ultra II Jazz Bass V

The Ultra II Jazz Bass V uses Fender's Noiseless dual single-coil pickups, which hum-cancel without the added output/midrange bump a humbucker would introduce, keeping the classic scooped Jazz Bass voice but silent. Paired with the active 'Panorama' preamp, the low B string stays tight rather than flabby, and the EQ can push the sound toward a modern, hi-fi character well beyond what the passive pickups alone would give.
