A dual-humbucker four-string version of Sterling by Music Man's budget SUB StingRay, adding a neck-position pickup to the original single-pickup StingRay layout for a wider tonal range.
About the Sterling SUB StingRay Ray4HH
The base SUB StingRay (Ray4) follows the original 1976 StingRay design with a single humbucker mounted close to the bridge, chosen for a punchy, midrange-forward growl. The Ray4HH adds a second humbucker at the neck position, giving players access to a rounder, warmer tone from the neck pickup or the bridge pickup's characteristic bite individually, plus blended combinations in between via a pickup selector or blend control depending on the specific wiring configuration used in a given production run.
Built in Indonesia as part of the SUB line, the Ray4HH sits below Ernie Ball Music Man's US-made StingRay HH variants in materials and electronics grade, using an active preamp similar in concept to the rest of the SUB range but without the refinements of the American-made StingRay Special HH. It exists specifically for players who want more tonal range than the single-pickup Ray4 offers, without the cost of stepping up to Ernie Ball Music Man's US-made catalog.

Sound character of the Sterling SUB StingRay Ray4HH
Where the base Ray4 relies on a single bridge humbucker for its punchy, midrange-forward growl, the Ray4HH adds a second humbucker at the neck, giving access to a rounder, warmer tone from the neck pickup alone or a fuller blended voice with both pickups combined.
