About the Cort Artisan Space 5

The Space 5 is built around a maple body topped with poplar burl and a multi-laminate maple/walnut/purpleheart neck carrying a roasted maple fingerboard over 24 frets at a 34-inch scale. Being headless, tuning is handled at the bridge end via individual string units rather than a conventional headstock, a layout Cort's Artisan line had explored in earlier decades before this current reinterpretation.

Electronics are a pair of Bartolini MK-1 pickups run through an active 3-band EQ, giving broad tonal range from a modern high-output design rather than a vintage-voiced pairing. The combination of headless hardware, exotic-wood appointments and active Bartolini electronics places the Space 5 in the boutique-adjacent, ergonomically-focused segment of the modern 5-string market rather than among traditional P/J-style basses.

Sound character of the Cort Artisan Space 5

The pair of Bartolini MK-1 pickups is known for a smooth, hi-fi, well-balanced voicing rather than an aggressive growl, and combined with the maple/poplar-burl body and active 3-band EQ, the Space 5 leans toward a clean, full-bodied modern tone with plenty of headroom across all five strings.
