Cremona's best-selling student violin for over 30 years: hand-carved solid spruce and maple set up to NAfME/MENC standards, with premium Prelude strings by D'Addario as stock equipment.
About the Cremona SV-175
The SV-175 uses solid, hand-carved and graduated spruce for the top and solid maple for the back, meeting or exceeding NAfME (formerly MENC) recommended guidelines for student instruments - a specific standard band and orchestra directors reference when approving instruments for school programs. It's finished in a translucent brown that lets the wood grain show through rather than an opaqü stain hiding lower-grade wood.
Swiss-style ebony pegs, an ebony chin rest, and a lightweight composite tailpiece with four smooth fine-tuners give reliable tuning for beginners, and the SV-175 has shipped with US-made Prelude strings by D'Addario - the strings teachers most commonly recommend for students - rather than a generic unbranded set. The complete outfit includes a Travelite oblong case with a built-in hygrometer and an octagonal brazilwood bow with ebony frog, each instrument individually set up at Cremona's US workshop.

Sound character of the Cremona SV-175
The SV-175 uses solid spruce top and maple back/sides with a somewhat more refined setup than Cremona's absolute entry models, giving it a fuller, more balanced tone than a bare-bones student instrument while still being a mass-produced, machine-graduated violin rather than a hand-carved one.
