Availability: 8/10 (Common)
One of the most widely recommended beginner violin outfits by teachers: hand-carved solid spruce and maple with full ebony fittings, sold complete with case and bow across every common fractional size.
About the Stentor 1500 Student II
The Student II uses hand-carved and hand-joined solid spruce for the top and figured solid maple for the back, sides and neck - genuine tonewood construction rather than the laminated bodies found on the very cheapest starter violins, finished in a rich red-brown lacquer. Full ebony fittings across fingerboard, pegs, chin rest and tailpiece give a smoother, more durable playing surface than the stained hardwood substitutes used on lower-tier outfits.
The composite tailpiece has integral fine-tuners built in, letting a beginner make small pitch adjustments without needing to turn the pegs directly - a meaningful ease-of-use feature for new players still learning peg technique. It ships as a complete outfit: octagonal wood horsehair bow with ebony frog, lightweight case with safety reflectors and shoulder-rest pocket, and branded flexible-core strings, available across the full range of fractional sizes from 4/4 down to 1/8.

Sound character of the Stentor 1500 Student II
As Stentor's entry Student II tier, this violin uses laminate-adjacent basic solid tonewoods and a simple factory setup rather than hand-graduated plates, so it responds quickly but with a comparatively simple, narrow overtone spread. The result is a clear, bright, somewhat one-dimensional tone well suited to a beginner still learning bow control rather than nuanced tonal shading.

The history of the Stentor 1500 Student II
Stentor has built its reputation specifically on being the outfit music teachers and school rental programs default to recommend, and the Student II sits as the brand's core beginner tier - a genuine step above laminate no-name violins without yet reaching Stentor's step-up Student I or Conservatoire lines.
