Gibson's most basic classical guitar of the 1960s: a solid spruce top over mahogany back, sides and neck, a wrap-around rosewood bridge, and a light natural finish - about 15,000 built before Gibson exited nylon-string production.
About the Gibson C-0 Classic
The C-0 was Gibson's entry-level model in a series of classical guitars the company produced through the 1960s, aimed at students and casual players rather than classical performers. Construction is a solid spruce top over mahogany back, sides and neck (some examples use laminate rather than solid mahogany for the back and sides), finished in a light natural gloss with top binding only - minimal ornamentation befitting its budget position within Gibson's catalog.
The fingerboard is Brazilian rosewood with 12 frets to the body and 19 total, at a 25.5-inch scale, joined to a wrap-around rosewood bridge rather than the separate bridge-and-saddle assembly of higher-end classicals. The headstock carries a gold Gibson decal logo rather than an inlaid one. Body dimensions run smaller than Gibson's dreadnought or jumbo steel-strings, in keeping with standard classical guitar proportions.

Sound character of the Gibson C-0 Classic
The solid spruce top gives a bright, clear fundamental while the mahogany back, sides and neck add warmth in the midrange - as Gibson's most basic 1960s classical, its simpler bracing and construction produce a more direct, less overtone-rich voice than a purpose-built Spanish fan-braced classical.

The history of the Gibson C-0 Classic
Gibson produced the C-0 from 1962 to 1971, building roughly 15,000 examples before discontinuing it in favor of the C-100. Gibson's classical guitar line was never a major focus for the company compared to its steel-string and electric instruments, and the C-series models remain a comparatively overlooked corner of vintage Gibson production.
