An accessible entry in Ibanez's slim-profile Soundgear line: an arched nyatoh body, 5-piece maple/walnut neck, jatoba fingerboard, and PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups with a 3-way power tap for switching between humbucker and single-coil tones.
About the Ibanez SR300E Standard Soundgear Bass
The SR300E carries the Soundgear line's signature thin, contoured neck and arched body design, built for fast playability rather than the chunkier neck profiles common on Fender-style basses. The body is nyatoh, and the 5-piece neck laminates maple and walnut for added stability, with a jatoba fingerboard, 24 medium frets and white dot inlays across the standard 34-inch scale.
Electronics are Ibanez's PowerSpan Dual Coil pickups, paired with Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ and a distinctive 3-way Power Tap switch that lets players select full humbucker output, or split the coils for a brighter, more single-coil-like tone - giving considerably more tonal range than a fixed-pickup design. Hardware includes an Accu-cast bridge for stable intonation, finished in cosmo black throughout.

Sound character of the Ibanez SR300E Standard Soundgear Bass
Active EQ electronics driving dual pickups and a thin, lightweight mahogany/okoume body are what give the SR300E its modern, articulate, hi-fi voicing - the active preamp adds clarity and punch that a passive circuit of the same pickups would lack.

The history of the Ibanez SR300E Standard Soundgear Bass
Ibanez introduced the Soundgear line in 1987, built around a thinner, more contoured neck and body than the Fender-style basses that dominated the market at the time, aimed at players prioritizing speed and comfort. The SR300E, introduced in 2016 as part of the Standard tier, brings that design philosophy along with the Power Tap-equipped PowerSpan pickups to an accessible price point.
