About the Fender American Professional II Jazz Bass

The American Professional II Jazz Bass is built at Fender's Corona plant with an alder body (Roasted Pine offered on select finishes) and a Slim C maple neck refined for comfort: rolled fingerboard edges, a Super-Natural satin finish, and Posiflex graphite reinforcement rods inside the neck that resist climate-related warping better than a traditional truss rod alone. The rosewood or maple fingerboard sits at a 9.5-inch radius with 20 narrow-tall frets at the standard 34-inch scale, and a rounded neck heel with beveled neck plate improves access to the upper register.

Pickups are two V-Mod II single-coil Jazz Bass units, each voiced specifically for its position rather than using identical units front and back - slightly overwound for extra punch and presence while retaining the vintage warmth and clarity associated with the Jazz Bass sound. The bridge is Fender's HiMass design for enhanced sustain and resonance, paired with a bone nut at 1.5 inches wide and tapered tuning machines for precise, stable tuning.

Sound character of the Fender American Professional II Jazz Bass

The American Professional II's V-Mod II single-coil J pickups keep the scooped-mid, bright vintage Jazz Bass voicing but with a hotter wind and the Deep C neck profile, adding clarity and output over a vintage-spec Jazz Bass.

The history of the Fender American Professional II Jazz Bass

The Jazz Bass dates to 1960 as Fender's more contoured, jazz-oriented alternative to the Precision Bass. The American Professional line replaced the American Standard/American Series in 2017, with the "II" revision following in 2020 to add the rolled fingerboard edges, Posiflex reinforcement, and individually-voiced V-Mod II pickups that distinguish this generation.
